Blockchain IQ

Smarter research for the on-chain economy.

For AI agents & developers

Crypto market data your agent can buy by the call.

Nine data resources, priced per request and paid in USDC over the open x402 standard. No account, no API key, no human in the loop: an unpaid request returns the price, your agent pays, and the data comes back as JSON.

Live on Base · USDC · x402 v2 · $0.002 to $0.25 per call

How payment works

HTTP 402, answered with USDC.

The API speaks x402 protocol version 2. Payment is in USDC on Base (eip155:8453). There is nothing to sign up for and no key to request — a wallet holding USDC is the only credential.

  1. Step 1

    Call the resource

    A plain GET, no headers. Every paid URL is listed below and in the free catalog.

  2. Step 2

    Read the 402

    The reply is HTTP 402 with a PAYMENT-REQUIRED header: base64 JSON naming the price, the asset (USDC), the network and the address to pay.

  3. Step 3

    Pay and retry

    Your x402 client signs a USDC payment for that amount and repeats the request with it. Settlement is gasless for the payer.

  4. Step 4

    Get the data

    HTTP 200 with JSON, plus a PAYMENT-RESPONSE header carrying the transaction hash. A 404 or an error is never charged.

Copy-paste example

One paid call with @x402/fetch.

Node 18 or later. The wrapper handles the 402, the payment and the retry; the spend control refuses any single call above the amount you set.

// npm install @x402/fetch @x402/evm viem
import { privateKeyToAccount } from "viem/accounts";
import { wrapFetchWithPayment, x402Client, decodePaymentResponseHeader } from "@x402/fetch";
import { ExactEvmScheme } from "@x402/evm/exact/client";

// A wallet holding a little USDC on Base. Settlement is gasless for the payer.
const account = privateKeyToAccount(process.env.AGENT_PRIVATE_KEY);

const client = x402Client.fromConfig({
  schemes: [{ network: "eip155:*", client: new ExactEvmScheme(account) }],
  spendControls: { maxAmountPerPayment: 0.3 }, // dollars; refuse anything dearer
});
const payFetch = wrapFetchWithPayment(fetch, client);

// The first request gets HTTP 402 with a PAYMENT-REQUIRED header; the wrapper
// signs a USDC payment for that amount and retries with it.
const res = await payFetch("https://www.blockchainiq.co/api/x402/v1/price/bitcoin");
const { data } = await res.json();
console.log(data);

// Proof of settlement: payer, network and transaction hash.
console.log(decodePaymentResponseHeader(res.headers.get("payment-response")));

Use it from an MCP client

The same catalog, as tools.

blockchainiq-x402-mcp is an MCP server that exposes every resource above as a tool for Claude, Cursor and other MCP clients. The catalog and sample tools are free and work with no wallet. Paid tools are paid by your own wallet, in USDC on Base only, capped at $0.30 per call unless you change it. The private key stays on your machine.

npx -y blockchainiq-x402-mcp

Or add it to your client’s MCP configuration (Claude Desktop shown; leave out the env block to use only the free tools):

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "blockchainiq": {
      "command": "npx",
      "args": ["-y", "blockchainiq-x402-mcp"],
      "env": {
        "AGENT_PRIVATE_KEY": "0x..."
      }
    }
  }
}

Use a dedicated wallet with a small balance, never a main wallet. Setup for other clients, every option and the source are on the npm page.

Free, no payment

Catalog

Every resource, price and response schema as JSON — read this first.

GET /api/x402/v1

Well-known alias

The same catalog at the conventional location an agent probes first.

GET /.well-known/x402

Sample

Bitcoin’s current market data, unpaid, in the same envelope as a paid call — test your parsing before spending anything.

GET /api/x402/v1/sample

Plain-text summary for language models: /llms.txt. OpenAPI 3.1 document with every operation, its parameters and its price: /openapi.json. Subscriptions for people are on the pricing page.

Market data, not investment advice

Every response is market data and analysis, not investment advice, and carries that statement in its JSON envelope alongside the source. Use of the API is covered by our terms. Questions: team@blockchainiq.co.
