Gate's platform token, and the most aggressively burned of the major exchange tokens: 189.9 million of the original 300 million GT — 63.3% — has been permanently destroyed, worth over $1.311 billion at the prices paid. Since the 2025 launch of Gate Layer, an OP Stack layer 2 settled on GateChain, GT has doubled as the network's gas token, so scheduled quarterly buybacks now sit alongside on-chain fee burns. The exchange has meanwhile pushed into equities, adding Hong Kong-listed stocks funded in USDT.
